TKI: Kami Bisa Tunjukkan yang Terbaik, NewStraits Times: A Move In The Right Direction

Johor Bahru, Oktober 2012. Begitu bangganya anak bangsa menyambut Hari Sumpah Pemuda, dengan semangat yg tanpa kenal lelah, tanpa mengharap balasan, tim panitia yang terbentuk dari kalangan Tenaga Kerja Indonesia (TKI) bergiat mengadakan salahsatu hari kebangsaan ini.

Rasa banggapun terasa lengkap dengan adanya apresiasi dari salahsatu media asing yang ada di Johor Malaysia, yaitu NewStraitsTimes salut dengan semangat, kekompakan, dan rasa nasionalisme anak bangsa. 

Dalam tulisan ini, saya mengutip pemberitaan yang disampaikan NewStraitsTime pada saat pelaksanaan Sumpah Pemuda tsb.

Indonesian workers to graduate next year

THE first batch of Indonesian workers in four states who are pursuing online education at the Indonesian Open University are set to graduate next year.

JOHOR BARU: The 150 students are from Johor, Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Pahang.
The minister counsellor of the Consulate-General of Indonesia in Johor Baru, Djudjur S.H. Hutagalung said of the 200,000 Indonesians in the country, 1,200 enrolled for diploma or degree online courses at the university.
“Of these, 700 are in Johor. They comprise of factory workers, estate workers and those working in restaurants and petrol stations.
“Next year, the first batch of students will graduate,” DJudjur said.
 enjoying the singing competition with other dignitaries from IndonesiaHe said this at a gathering called Sumpah Pemuda (Youth Pledge), which was held for the first time at the Indonesian consulate in Johor Baru.
The event, which was attended by some 800 people, was aimed at fostering unity among Indonesian youths.
DJudjur said the first Sumpah Pemuda was held in Indonesia 84 years ago.
A singing competition similar to the Indonesian Idol talent quest was organised in conjunction with the event, which attracted 60 contestants.
The contest was open to all Indonesians in the country.

Of the 30 selected for the finals, 24-year-old Mohd Dahlan Purnawan won the heart of the judges and the crowd with his rendition of Indonesian artiste Meggi Z’s Benang Biru.
The second prize winner was Alika Nor Khalifah, followed by Noki Ardi and Sri Riski Wulandari, who clinched the third and fourth spots, respectively.
Dahlan walked away with RM1,250, Alika (RM800), Noki (RM600) and Sri Riski (RM200). All the prizes were sponsored by MS Cargo. Also present was MS Cargo director Mohamad Hidayatullah.
